Frequently Asked Questions
Eric Moss Fitness personal training studio located in Boonton.
Eric Moss Fitness is a personal training studio located at 620 Main Street Boonton directly across from the Boonton Holmes Public Library. The owner and trainer is Eric Moss and here are some questions that he frequently gets about his personal training studio, his methodology etc.
Q: How does the free trial work?
A: First we schedule your session, and during that session you’ll fill out a basic health history form and give me a quick idea about your goals. Then during I’ll put you through the Functional Movement Screen which is basically a movement test so I can see how you move and helps me figure out what we can safely do, and what maybe we should avoid. Then from there I select exercises that are appropriate for your goals and test your current capabilities (starting maxes as well as appropriate volume) within them so I know where to start you. The entire process takes about 4 sessions. Then we sit down for the goal assessment interview where I try to figure out exactly what you want to achieve, what kind of obstacles come up and figure out what’s the next best step to get you from where you are, to where you want to be.
Q: Why is the free trial free? What’s the catch?
A: Selecting a personal trainer isn’t a passive thing, it takes effort and consistency and we need to make sure we can work together. During the trial, it gives you a chance to see if you like it to begin with and it gives me a chance to “flex” by giving me an opportunity to show off my coaching style and let my regular clients tell you how much they like it, what they’ve achieved etc. It also gives me a chance to see how you interact with my regular clients (one bad apple can ruin the bunch) and allows me to figure out if I want to work with you long term (sometimes personalities just clash). I don’t want anyone in my studio that doesn’t really want to be there.
Q: How much do you cost?
A: I really don’t like to answer this question before the trial. When all you know about me are my fees you have nothing to go on besides that. I’ll just say this, my fees are comparable with other personal trainers in the area. I’m not the cheapest, and I’m not the most expensive. I’m somewhere in between the two. I am probably more effective and easy to work with though (which is why I want you to take the trial so you can see).
As far as my packages, there are different pricing structures. As an example, I have some plans that are 12 sessions per month for a year or more, and I have plans that are 8 sessions a month for 3 months. They aren’t going to cost the same. Which one is best for you, we figure out together during the goal assessment when I have a clear idea of what your goals are, where you are compared to your goals, and what sorts of things could get in the way (like life and career stuff).
Q: Do you provide a nutrition plan with your body transformation programs?
A: I am fairly knowledgable when it comes to nutrition and can provide a one size fits most plan at no additional cost. It works for most people, however if its not working and you’re legitimately putting in the effort to do the right things, and the right things aren’t happening, then the right things aren’t the right things they are the wrong things. I have nutrition experts I can send you that can really cater and customize it for you doing things like checking your bloodwork etc. That’s an additional fee since they don’t work for me.
Q: What if I have to cancel a session?
A: We live in the real world and I understand stuff comes up. When that happens as long as you let me know in a reasonable time frame it’s no biggie. I only get annoyed if I show up, waiting for you and you don’t show up without a word.
Q: What if I don’t use my sessions before the end of the month?
A: Simple, they roll over. When you by into my programs, think of it as buying bunch of sessions that are simply paid off in installments. Some of my clients are touring musicians and may be gone for a month or two. Obviously they are going to miss some. I just don’t want people coming to me like 10 years from now and saying hey I bought these sessions back then…
Q: How does the schedule work? Can I just show up?
All personal training sessions are done via appointment. Some of my clients have steady schedules and are always on the same days/time every week. Some have fluctuating schedules (like EMS or musicians). For the ones that are steady, I just put them into my schedule for the same days and times until they say otherwise. Others with unpredictable schedules, just text me when they know they can some in and I’ll see what my availability is.
Q: I have XYZ injury, can you heal it?
A: Though strength training can be therapeutic and sometimes help fix injuries, fixing injuries is not something I’m qualified to handle. I have a small network of medical professionals I can refer you to.
Q: What if I have a question that’s not covered here?
A: Just send me a text at 973 476 5328
